The Story

Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO Turntable

The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO is a Hi-Fi turntable engineered for accurate, consistent vinyl playback, combining an 8.6″ carbon fiber tonearm, a factory-mounted Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, and precise electronic speed control. Its TPE-damped platter, decoupled motor suspension, and height-adjustable isolation feet work together to reduce vibration and improve speed stability.

Ready-to-play analog performance

The included Ortofon 2M Red cartridge combines superb trackability with accuracy and clarity. It arrives factory mounted and aligned on a low-mass 8.6″ one-piece carbon fiber tonearm. A single run of high-quality copper wiring feeds gold-plated, chassis-mounted RCA jacks with a separate ground, and the supplied Connect It E cable is engineered to carry the delicate phono signal.

  • Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, factory mounted and aligned
  • 8.6″ carbon fiber tonearm with low-friction precision sapphire bearings
  • Single run of high-purity copper tonearm wire to gold-plated RCA jacks with separate ground
  • Connect It E semi-balanced, low-capacitance phono cable with superior shielding

Quiet, stable rotation and precise speed control

The 12″, 1.7kg steel platter is lined with an anti-resonant TPE ring to add rotational mass and damp resonance, reducing wow & flutter and increasing stability over an expertly engineered main bearing and sub-platter. A sophisticated onboard power control circuit generates a precise signal for accurate, consistent speed regardless of power supply fluctuation.

  • Electronic speed selection for 33 & 45rpm, plus 78rpm capability with the included belt
  • Heavy MDF plinth and felt record mat support smooth, reliable playback

Vibration control and easy leveling

A new motor suspension system decouples the motor from the plinth using a steel plate and TPE damping to minimize vibration transfer. TPE-damped, height-adjustable metal feet simplify leveling and help isolate the turntable.

True Balanced-ready phono connectivity

The Debut Carbon EVO is configured for balanced operation. It provides a balanced RCA/ground phono output and can be run balanced with an RCA to mini XLR phono cable into a phono preamp with a mini XLR input (e.g., Phono Box S3 B). It ships with an RCA/ground to RCA/ground phono cable for maximum out-of-the-box compatibility. Balanced add-ons are sold separately.

Refined build and finish options

The heavy, solid MDF plinth receives eight coats of paint and is offered in high-gloss black or white, or a real walnut veneer. A hinged adjustable dust cover is included, and manufacturing takes place in the European Union.

Clear upgrade path

Performance can be elevated with Pro-Ject accessories and parts designed for the Debut platform.

  • Acryl it acrylic platter for additional resonance control
  • Debut Alu Sub-Platter adds mass and higher precision for improved speed stability and more resonance control
  • Easy stylus upgrades for the Sumiko Rainier, including Olympia or Moonstone

78rpm capability and stylus guidance

Two belts are included. Use the flat belt on the top/smaller motor-pulley diameter for 33 & 45rpm. For 78rpm, install the round belt on the larger/bottom pulley with the differently shaped slot.

Note: The factory mounted stylus is not advisable for 78s; an alternate stylus designed for tracking 78rpm grooves is necessary.

Included in the box

  • Debut Carbon EVO turntable
  • Ortofon 2M Red cartridge (mounted & aligned)
  • Hinged adjustable dust cover
  • Drive belts for 33/45rpm and 78rpm
  • Adapter for 7″ singles

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I change speeds on the Debut Carbon EVO?

It uses electronic speed selection for 33 & 45rpm via a switch integrated with the power rocker under the front left corner. For 78rpm, install the included round belt on the larger/bottom pulley.

  • What cartridge is included, and can I upgrade it?

A factory mounted and aligned Ortofon 2M Red is included. It can be upgraded to another half-inch mount cartridge.

  • How does the turntable minimize vibration and maintain speed accuracy?

A TPE-damped 1.7kg steel platter increases rotational mass and damps resonance, while a decoupled motor suspension with a steel plate and TPE reduces vibration transfer. A precise onboard power control circuit ensures accurate, consistent speed regardless of power supply fluctuation.

  • Can I use the Debut Carbon EVO in a True Balanced setup?

Yes. It provides a balanced RCA/ground output and can be run balanced with an RCA to mini XLR cable into a compatible balanced phono stage such as Phono Box S3 B. It ships with an RCA/ground to RCA/ground cable for standard unbalanced hookup; balanced accessories are sold separately.

  • Which finishes are available?

High-gloss black or white, or real walnut veneer.
